A children’s play will be featured at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, and Friday, Nov. 18, and at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at South Texas College in McAllen.
The comedy “Happy the Cat Hosts Thanksgiving” was written and directed by local actor Tom Fuschetto.
Admission for children is free, but adults will need to pay $2, and seniors 65 years and older will be charged $1.

The 2005 film by CineSol director Henry Serrato takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the legend. Through a mixture of real interviews and re-enactments, Serrato’s mockumentary follows a reporter who is hunting for the truth.
Nena Delgado will headline the show “Se Traspasa Suegra” Wednesday, Oct. 6, at the McAllen Civic Auditorium with fellow comedians Chucho Cuellar, Paty Rodriguez, Mirna Balderas, Chema Ibarra and Fernando Lozano. Tickets for the show will go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9.
Christian comedian Peter Wolf, known for his profanity-free stand-up act, will be performing at “Comedy Date Night” at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, at the Trinity Worship Center in Pharr.
There will also be live music and Chik-Fil-A will be passing out some free food.
The event is free and for adults 18 years and older.

Mexican comedian Polo Polo will bring the laughs at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, at the Pharr Events Center.
The comic got his start with stand up in the late ‘70s, and he hit his stride in the ‘80s when he began to appear on late night TV shows in Mexico.
Polo Polo, whose real name is Leopoldo García Peláez, kept his audiences laughing throughout the past two decades with live performances and nearly 20 comedy albums.
When 10-year-olds Lily and Pepin meet, more than a friendship is born — the two children, both with divorced parents, decide to play matchmakers.
The film “The Little Match Makers” will be shown Friday and Saturday at Cine El Rey in McAllen. There will be two showings on Friday and three on Saturday. After each screening, director of photography Mario Ortiz will host a question-and-answer session with his son Julian, 13, who stars in the movie as Pepin.
“It’s for all audiences, really. It’s a romantic comedy … and we follow the kids’ whole adventure and their up and down attempts to get their parents to meet,” Ortiz said. “And there’s kind of a surprise ending also, which is fun for the audience.”
Ortiz is an Emmy award-winning director of photography who shot “Scavengers” and “Gone Hollywood” in the Rio Grande Valley.
The multi-cultural and family-friendly film is rated G and full of love, laughs and Elsa native Valente Rodriguez (“The George Lopez Show”).
