The bi-annual Splash weekend which caters to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community moves from the typical October weekend to Friday, Nov. 4, and Saturday, Nov. 5, at South Padre Island.
Kick off the weekend with “Extravaganza” featuring performances by Katelynn York, Toni Raven, Birdie B and music by DJ Hugo on Friday, Nov. 4, at Tequila Sunset.
The “Splash Pool Bash” starts at noon and includes full service bars, food and music by DJ Mandi and Miami on Saturday, Nov. 5, at La Copa Inn.
Then there’s the eighth annual “White Party” on Saturday, Nov. 5, at Louie’s Backyard. There will be performances by Katelynn York, Ariana Evans and Asa Brooks, music by DJ Master Steve and a live performance by Daniel Joseph Baker.

One of the world’s top 10 DJs (the group was placed at No. 5) Above & Beyond will be performing at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Pharr Events Center.
The trance music group from England is known for its remixing and DJing talents. Some of the artists Above & Beyond has remixed songs for include Madonna, Britney Spears, Dido, Three Drives and Delerium.
Tickets for the event go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24. Discounted tickets will be sold on this day only – general admission for $20, and VIP for $35.

Help The Rink Family Fun Center celebrate its one year anniversary from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, in San Juan.
Everyone gets into The Rink for free. Also, outside there will be face painting, finger painting and moon jumps. A local artist will perform and a DJ will keep the party going while you browse vendor and food booths and enter a grito contest.
The Latin Dreams Car Club will hold a car show, too. Entry will only cost 10 canned goods, which will be donated to the Rio Grande Valley Food Bank.
They’re also looking for graffiti artists willing to do live pieces during the event.
