Wild Bill’s announces 2012 concert line-up

Wild Bill’s Saloon and Honkytonk has booked several acts for the upcoming year. Here’s an early list of those shows.

Los Palominos will kick off the line-up with a show Friday, Jan. 27, at the Harlingen bar. Roy Torres and Buck ‘n’ Krazy will open. Cover is $12 before 9 p.m. and $15 afterward.

A Valentine’s Day party is planned for Friday, Feb. 10, featuring Siggno. Cover costs $12 before 9 p.m. and $15 afterward.

Mark Chestnutt will be performing Friday, Feb. 17, with Jason Meadows and Buck ‘n’ Krazy as the support acts. Tickets for the event cost $40.

Harlingen to host singer Matthew West

Harvest Fest 2011 coming to Family Cathedral Church

Whether you dance or sing, the congregation at Family Cathedral Church want to see your talent at the Harvest Fest 2011 at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, in Harlingen.

If you want to participate in the talent show, auditions will be held for 7- to 12-year-olds at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at the church. Call (956) 230-0992 to register.

Butt Wilds’ Halloween party set for Friday in Harlingen

The party will feature the award-winning tejano band Siggno.

Harlingen art gallery celebrates the dead

Harlingen’s Beyond Gallery 218 will host a Festival of the Dead at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5.

The event will feature a collection of art all tied to the Festival de los Muertos theme. There will also be altars honoring the deceased.

Harlingen church offers alternative to Halloween

Harlingen’s Templo Triunfantes en Cristo will host Hallelujah Night, an event that promises candy and salvation in place of drama, at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31.

Twilight Saga returns to theaters for one night

Fans of the “Twilight” film series, based on the novels by Stephanie Meyer, will be treated to a return of the first three films to the big screen in McAllen and Harlingen.

“Twilight” will be shown at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1; “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” will be shown at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8; and “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” will be shown at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Cinemark Hollywood USA in McAllen and Cinemark 16 in Harlingen.

The screenings include never-before-seen footage, including a clip of Robert Pattinson performing “Bella’s Lullaby,” plus interviews with cast members and footage from fan fests. This is all leading up to the Friday, Nov. 18, premiere of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.”

Youth conference coming to Harlingen

Australian worship band Planetshakers will be performing at the Aftermath youth conference at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, at Christian Fellowship Church in Harlingen.

The Christian worship and rock band has contributed to dozens of albums, including live recordings, studio albums and compilations.

CineSol 2011 digital scrapbook

Two weekends, dozens of films and several local film industry workers married to create the 18th annual CineSol Film Festival.

The festival offered film fans a look at some shorts, documentaries and full-length features made by, starred in, directed and produced by locals who are working in the industry. CineSol also offered prizes, awards and a 36-hour film race.
